When you have a Block Ice Shaver and you are out of block ice, you are out of business! Don't let that happen to you! Freeze your own. Keep several hundred pounds of blocks in the freezer for those really busy days. The really intelligent operators will own 10, 20, or even 30 ice molds. It's important to have the correct size bag. Use bags #1488 Ice Mold Bags. Always try to "pull" the bag a little to eliminate the wrinkles as much as possible. The ice will need to be removed from the freezer and allowed to "temper" a little before you can remove the Poly Bag.

If you are freezing your own block ice for the Olde New Orleans Block Ice Shaver, keep a couple of things in mind. Freeze the blocks slowly at about 10 degrees above zero. Trying to force the freezing process by using extremely cold temperatures will only create low quality ice blocks with internal flaws, that will shatter as soon as you start to shave them.
