The Epson Home Theater model 8700 UB provides the viewer with a big screen experience measured in feet not inches all in 1080p high definition. Epson has a dual layered auto iris which effectively controls light reduction rates. The iris is similar to human eye lid that can close and open depending on light levels. The iris gives the projector the ability to enhance black levels. What's a black level? A black level is jargon for the ability to see the finest detail in the darkest of scenes. It's the difference beteen a milky gray picture and picture that is vibrant and colorful. Epson 8700ub also has Epson's exclusive D7 chip set and UltraBlack technology hence the name with ub, ultra black. With UltraBlack, the projector achieves remarkable black levels and bright, vivid images. The 8700 UB has a brightness of 1600 lumens insuring deep blacks and perfect, clear detail. The brightness can be maintained at 1600 lumens and still bring out great black levels. One last thing, black levels is another name for high contrast.

 | | What sets 8700 ub apart from the 8350? We believe it's the silicon optix video processing chip. This feature takes lcd technology and smooths the picture out to make it look more like film.
