The calculator compares an immersive 40-degree viewing angle, a cinematic 36-degree reference point and a more relaxed 30-degree viewing angle. These ranges allow users to choose a layout based on personal preference, room limitations and the type of content they watch most often.

The tool also emphasizes screen width rather than relying only on advertised diagonal size. This matters because a 120-inch 16:9 screen and a 120-inch CinemaScope screen have different dimensions and can produce different recommended viewing distances.
